4th Annual Women as Career Mentors Event a Great Success!
The fourth annual Women as Career Mentors event was hosted on March 1, 2011 at the Delta Hotel. The committee is delighted to report that over 260 Mentees and Mentors attended; the evening showcased networking opportunities, Spotlight Speakers and great food!
Designed to bring together young women with experienced professionals from a variety of sectors, this evening was an event of dining and information exchange!
During this event, career mentors provide their young female counterparts with information relating to workplace attitudes, skill shortage areas, and employment trends. Opportunities are available to discuss the challenges and barriers faced by women, as well as effective methods to overcome these obstacles.
Young women gain information that will help them to make career choices, and establish networking contacts in a variety of sectors and industries. Once introduced to the opportunities and support available here, women will choose to stay in Manitoba to live and work. We are anticipating that this event will continue to grow and are currently developing further activites that would involve both Mentees and Mentors.

Pre-Event Workshops
As momentum built for our Women as Career Mentors evening on March 1, 2011, two pre-event workshops were hosted, one for Mentees and another for Mentors. Winnipeg Transition Centre, in partnership with Manitoba Hydro, hosted the 1st Annual Your Role as a Mentor Workshop on Friday, February 11, 2011 for Mentors.
