In all of Canada, there are few “train-the-trainer” programs as high quality as the Practical Workshop Facilitation Skills Certificate (PWFSC) offered by the Winnipeg Transition Centre. Truly, this workshop is a blessing to Winnipeg businesses, as it is both of exceptional quality and very affordable by all standards. Bison Transport has sent 4 trainers to this course in 2014 alone and we will send more in the future. This session is performance focused and wastes little time on theory and concepts, but rather gets to the heart of effective training delivery through learn-by-doing.
Clint Clarkson, Manager, Learning & Process Improvement – Bison Transport
I found the Practical Workshop Facilitation Skills to be tremendously valuable in identifying concrete behaviours, demonstrating practical skills and techniques and creating assurance to the faclitator that a workshop on any topic can be both informative and engaging. The skills and techniques learned during the week are an invaluable and necessary part of any facilitator’s arsenal if they intend on providing effective facilitation where participants are engaged and able to walk away with knowledge retention. I highly recommend this training to anyone who provides facilitation in any area including delivering workshops, presentations, teaching classes, leading planning sessions or any other type of activity that requires learning retention and engagement.
Andrea Hajt-Jacobs, ASETS Coordinator – Sagamok Anishnawbek, Massey, ON
As a recent participant in the Practical Workshop Facilitation Skills, I gained extremely insightful workshop techniques described as the “five pillars” that make such a huge difference in engaging participants. I was able to learn and try the pillars with extremely valuable feedback of how well this was being interpreted to my participants. This allowed me to choose what areas I wanted to improve first, while leveraging the skills that I already had in my 15 years of facilitating. The training was highly supportive, extremely fun and I left with resources and activities that I could use immediately. I am refreshed on how to build a captivating lesson plan and be conscious of what “to do” and “not to do” to keep participants engaged in any material.

The 1-Day Facilitation Workshop has taught me that facilitation is about building relationships between the participants and the facilitator. I equally appreciate the guide given to making the best of a difficult situation (how to handle attention seekers, passive and challenging participants), use of humour and the significance of acknowledging differences of opinion. I would definitely recommend this workshop to others because I have seen that no matter in what career or profession one can be, it can help enrich them in their strategies in the workplace as well as in their daily interactions with other people.

I would strongly recommend the 2-Day Facilitation Fundamentals Workshop to anyone seeking to develop and enhance their skills in leading and/or facilitating meetings effectively. The material is highly relevant and can be applied to any situation; it has significantly increased my level of confidence in leading sessions that achieve the desired outcome of a meeting while actively engaging all those who participate. Having completed the 2-day course, I am eager to further develop my skills in a real-world environment and look forward to enrolling in the 5 day course to gain further knowledge and skills.

Anyone who works with people in creating resumes needs to take the Resume Development Coach Workshop. This training was transformational for me. I feel I have achieved a better understanding on the process and investigative skills necessary to be an accomplished resume writer and coach. The insight, tools, communication and interpersonal skills I have acquired in these two days has improved the connection I have with my clients. The process of having the client dig deep for answers and have them explain as best they can their experience at work is really the only way to accurately portray a candidate on paper. I believe this approach creates a win-win situation for the client.
Patti Malo, Employment Facilitator – Osborne Village Resource Centre
I recently took Career Planning Coach (one of four 2-day workshops in the Career/Employment Coach Certificate Program), and it was truly enlightening. Although I have worked in the field for a number of years, I can honestly say that the workshop reinforced my view, in a fun-filled atmosphere, that values and personal attributes and transferable skills are all part of the many ingredients that tie together in making proper career choices. The workshop was interactive, and the group sessions allowed a real mix of opinions to take place.
Lionel Painchaud, Career Development Officer – Government of the North West Territories
The time gaining information given by the facilitator in the Interview Skills Coach was well spent as I came home with many “heart pocket” tips that I can put to use immediately. It was validated that my role is to ask the right questions, encourage thinking in the right direction and affirm choices/steps that enable the client’s goal to be attained. Teaching them to present themselves in the best light-taking problems and turning them into positives by doing their homework ahead of time, learning to see “the question behind the question” and crafting their responses carefully using the sandwich technique, these steps make for a more confident, secure presentation.

If you are an organization looking for a proven way to get your employees performing at their full potential, the Performance Coaching Skills workshop is your answer. Delivered in a dynamic, engaging and fun-filled way, the facilitator created a powerful, hands-on learning environment to meet every manager’s dream for their employees-get things done! I highly recommend businesses that are committed to investing in their most valuable resource-their people-do so by taking the Performance Coaching Skills course!
