I come to Winnipeg Transition Centre as a shining example of how to seize the moment to make a career change. Employment Coaching is a career destination where I can explore my passion to help others be successful in finding the right environment for them to be the best versions of themselves.
Professional experience in donor research, stewardship, case management, editing and administrative roles have honed skills in organization and procedural efficiencies. Volunteer initiatives have provided opportunities in leading philanthropy projects, coordinating retreats, facilitating workshops and involvement in board governance. These skills in leadership training, youth and young adult’s initiatives and teaching classes have developed the skills that bridged my move into Employment Coaching. I’ve been known as a “people broker” for years. A wide personal network has made me a connecting resource for event coordinators/resource presenters, renters/landlords, pet sitters/vacationers, job seekers/employers. I’m excited to make the work I’ve so enjoyed as a volunteer into my every day profession.
Experiencing active learning and interactive role plays as an adult learner at Mediation Services introduced me to the successes of engaged learning. Earning a Certificate in Mediation, Leadership stream inspired my interest in leading workshops. Having participated in the EARS (Employment Assistance & Resource Services) workshop at Winnipeg Transition Centre training, I can add these tools and techniques to my interactions with participants on the roller-coaster ride of job search. I am already busy pursuing the Career Employment Coach Certificate training and am engaged in the Practical Workshop Facilitation Skills Certificate program offered at Winnipeg Transition Centre.
I am a creative person and firmly believe that finding a creative outlet has the value of therapy. This quest for creative therapy has led to a career in Quilting, an interest in slow fashion, slow food, square foot gardening and small space living.
I’m excited about being a part of a successful journey to “Transition to Your Full Potential!”
