Being an empathetic person has always shaped how I work and live my life. Walking along side others as they journey through the important steps of self-discovery is a passion of mine. I began my formal career development duty as an Employment Facilitator with Youth Employment Services Manitoba Inc., where I was able to empower youth (aged 16 to 29) with various aspects of their journey to bring them to a successful integration with the labour market. Previous to that I have a decade of related experience counselling and facilitating groups through an international development organization, retail, and youth camp environments. Being experienced in counselling techniques through a B.A. in Psychology has helped to inform many of the positive interactions I have with friends, colleagues and participants.
Transition is not a new concept for me; by the time I had turned 20 years old, I had lived in nearly 20 different places. This early life experience has informed my personality and desire to help create a welcoming and open atmosphere for others experiencing transition. Empathetic and generous customer service has always been an internal vocation for me, I want to work to the satisfaction of all those involved in the process. I have always gravitated toward the support role in team based activities, whether work or play. An important aspect of that has always been my aspiration for clear communication to generate better understanding among all team members.
In my spare time I coach and play on an Ultimate Frisbee team and volunteer to provide meaningful experiences for youth as a sponsor.
