Job Seekers Services and Process
Orientation:
Orientation sessions are conducted every three weeks and individuals are requested to register in advance. Information regarding services and process is provided during a 30 minute session. If individuals are interested in participating in the program, they are required to fill out an application form and schedule a one-on-one appointment with an Employment Counsellor.
Transition Workshop:
The 1-day transition workshop focuses on the soft skills job seekers require to promote themselves effectively to employers. Participants are guided through team work and communication exercises that build on the premise of "How you think, speak and act is how you are perceived".
Resume Workshop:
This 1-day workshop assists individuals in a step-by-step process to develop an effective resume. An individual resume sitting is scheduled following the workshop to help fine-tune the details.
Interview Workshop:
The 2-day interview workshop guides participants through potential interview questions. Participants have the opportunity to script, practice and role play answers to Standard, Situational and Behaviour-Descriptive questions.
Self-Marketing Workshop:
The 2-day self-marketing workshop focuses on proven job search methods, including networking and employer direct calls. Participants will also learn about work proposals, calling cards, cover letters, internet job sites, newspaper searches and creating an action plan.
