Event Overview -- Mentors -- Mentees -- Sponsors -- Contact |
The Winnipeg Transition Centre (WTC) in collaboration with numerous community groups and public sector agencies, is set to host the first annual Women as Career Mentors Dinner in February 2008. The event will bring together young women between the ages of 16 – 30 with women in professions, over an evening of dining and information exchange. It is anticipated that 100 – 150 young women and 100 – 150 career mentors will attend. Career mentors will provide their young women counterparts with information relating to workplace attitudes, skill shortage areas, and employment trends. Opportunities to discuss the challenges and barriers faced by women, as well as effective methods to overcome these challenges, will arise. Young women will gain information that will help them to make career choices, and establish networking contacts in a variety of sectors and industries. Over the long term, these young women will have the opportunity to return in subsequent years as career mentors, and will choose to stay in Manitoba once introduced to the opportunities and support available here. |
Do you have suggestions, directions, or advice for younger women who are facing choices about which paths to follow? If you said YES to these questions, your participation as a Career Mentor would be valuable! Plan to attend the “Women as Career Mentors” dinner on February 27th, 2008. |
